Ani Difranco

Angela Maria Ani DiFranco (born Angela Maria Ani DiFranco) is a American as well as a Canadian singer-songwriter. Her catalog includes more than twenty albums. Her songs are classified by the label as folk and alternative rock. But, they are influenced by hip-hop as well as jazz, and punk. A feminist icon widely recognized as Grammy award winner Ani DiFranco was the founder of the DIY movement, and was among the pioneers to establish her own record label in 1990. DiFranco was born in Buffalo New York on September 23rd, 1970. She was she was the daughter of Elizabeth (Ross) and Dante Americo DiFranco The couple had been in contact while at in the Massachusetts Institute of Technology. Her father is of Italian heritage, while her mother is from Montreal. 32 Flavors is a hit song written as well as performed by Ani DiFranco. The song is from her 1995 album Not a Pretty Girl, that was her sixth studio album. It was also featured on the soundtrack to the Canadian romantic comedy Better Than Chocolate, released in 1999. DiFranco, who graduated at the age of sixteen from Buffalo Academy for Visual and Performing Arts High School, was the first to attend classes at Buffalo State College. Ani's baritone is a customized Alvarez guitar, which was designed through a series of consultations with Chrys who was an Alvarez artist representative during the time. DiFranco lives at home with her two children living in New Orleans and Lefty, their canine companion that is never out of the frame. DiFranco is open about the fact that she has mixed feelings about her past career, that spans over three years. Ani DiFranco achieved musical iconic status as a songwriter/singer and punk/folk at the age 25, both in the eyes of critics and fans, with Not A Pretty Girl. Dilate was a huge success and brought more fame for DiFranco's music, in 1996. It is the 1972 single from the American pop band Looking Glass. Elliot Lurie wrote the song.
